Bill of Rights Defense Working Group

The USA PATRIOT Act, signed into law on October 26, 2001, has diminished the civil liberties of citizens and noncitizens in the United States. The law grants new and largely unchecked powers to the executive branch which, among other things, allow federal agents to search your home without your knowledge and without probable cause; allow the FBI to access library and bookseller records to monitor the books you check out or purchase; and allow the government to detain noncitizens without due process. Three states and hundreds of cities, towns, and counties in the U.S. have already passed resolutions against the Patriot Act. Please join our group to help Sonoma cities and our county do the same.
