GREEN TALK:
WHAT SHOULD THE GREEN PARTY DO ABOUT A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE?
Thursday, June 3, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Environmental Center, 404A Mendocino Ave (near 5th Street), Santa Rosa
Jared Laiti and Tim Morgan, both Sonoma County delegates to the Presidential
nominating convention, will present a formal debate during the first hour on
this question. Jared will represent the position that Greens should support
Ralph Nader as Presidential Candidate. Tim will represent the position that
Greens should select Presidential Candidate David Cobb. The audience will be
allowed to ask questions of the speakers and a friendly poll of the group's
opinions will be taken on the debate and the topic of the debate.
Time and equipment willing, several short videos or audio programs may be presented.
If you would like to ask the debaters questions by email before the event,
please send them to sonomagreens@lists.riseup.net.

GREEN PARTY COUNTY COUNCIL WELCOMES TWO NEW MEMBERS
At the May General Meeting of the GPSC, an election was held to fill two
vacancies on the Green Party of Sonoma County Council. Three candidates
were nominated by those members attending, and a secret ballot was cast
using ranked voting. Tim Morgan was elected in first round of voting, and
Veronica Lopez won the final seat in the second round after Tim's surplus
votes were redistributed.
Veronica and Tim join Susan Chunco, Michael Sandler, Skaidra Smith-Heisters,
Ann Tompkins, and Justin Whitaker on the seven-seat GPSC County Council,
the body responsible for day-to-day operations of the county Green Party.

SANTA ROSA CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT ELECTIONS INITIATIVE AND CAMPAIGN
A very important local Santa Rosa city council district elections initiative
is circulating from now until mid-June. This initiative, if passed, will help
break the pattern of Santa Rosa city council representatives all coming the
wealthier northeastern quadrant of the city, and give Santa Rosa more
broad-based, diversified representation on the council.
If passed, beginning with the 2006 election, the city council will be composed
of seven council members elected by district. The districts will be numbered
one through seven beginning at the northeast "corner"
of the City and proceeding clockwise south, west, and north with district seven
located in the northwest "corner." No district will overlap any other district.
If you are a Santa Rosa resident, please help this effort by signing this
petition. It is being circulated at the Downtown Santa Rosa Market which takes
place on Wednesday nights along 4th Street. For more information, contact
Tim Smith at 206-0260 or by email at Rioryon@aol.com
